Rollin’ Stony Magazine’s Review of Darrell Morris’s Latest CD release:
Maybe we haven’t had an album this great since the Beatles Rubber Soul. This CD is reminiscent of everything magical about the early Byrds. Darrell’s voice reminds the listener of the unique stylings of Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. Maybe we’ll witness Darrell Morris forming a band like The Traveling Soap Lake Berries.
Now for a breakdown of each song:
· The Best I Can I can finally hear my entire favorite all time bands in this one song – the Beatles, Tom Petty, the Byrds and the Monkees.
· Runaway Heart ROCKIN’ ! I want to play drums again. Way aggressive drums, on this track and add LOTS of tom toms! CRANK THIS ONE UP LOUD!
· 46th Street Overture Dylanesk. Great bass line and hook in the chorus!
· No Easy Way Chunka Chugga
· Enough of You A country Classic!
· Mean Ol’ World Great acoustic pickin’! The doubled voice adds too.
· Right Back (where I started from) Very Cool! Very 60’s! Slide that neck like George Harrison might do. Lost Traveling Wilbury’s track?
· Delicate Struggle Great title! Marimba is a classy touch! Cool chord changes in the second half of the verses.
· Another Love Like This Great lyrics! Slick cool jazz licks! Do-we-oo- wop-shu-wa.
· Let the sky fall down A great sing along! Great lead sound and tone! ONE OF THIS CD’S BEST TRACKS!!
· Everything makes me want to play drums again and smash, bash and splash behind this tune!
· Sugar Mountain Appalachian jug swiggin’ music!
· Always Somebody Reminds me of the unforgettable Pacific Ocean Mexican sunsets (except I’ve never been to Mexico, but if I had been there……)
